Catskill HBD-DED         
Catskill Hot Box-Dragging Equipment Detector. The spring loaded board straddling the track is draging equipment detector. If knocked over by dragging equipment, a pre-recorded message is broadcast over the radio alerting the engineer. The hot box detectors are the pole mounted devices shown below, which sense heat buildup within the journals (wheelsets).

Ralph Bonanno General This is a Dragging Equipment detector ONLY. It is only one of two detectors(the other being a HCD at MP.7) that announce as "CSX". All other still announce :"Conrail" 3/25/2006 1:28:01 AM
